Parse Seco Artist in Residence

Founded in 2016, Parse Seco is an experimental creative space and art residency located in Arroyo Seco, New Mexico. It provides a unique platform for underrepresented artists, musicians, and creators to present immersive experiences for the community in an intimate setting.

Parse Seco invites underrepresented emerging artists from all over the world to experience this immersive residency. The program provides emerging artists with gallery and work space, housing, curatorial and entrepreneurial training, and the opportunity to work within a strong artist community. The residency aims to advance the artistic ambitions and opportunities of artists in residence and guide those who may not view artistic expression or artistic professions as obtainable due to their race, sexual orientation, subject matter, or income class. Throughout the tenure of the program, residents will receive guidance and support from working community artists and art leaders, and will reciprocate through scheduled volunteer workshops and classes with at-risk youth and local youth from underrepresented communities.

Creative students, professionals, and artistic beings of all types are eligible for 30- to 90-day residencies. This program is intended for individual emerging, underrepresented artists or students of color, LGBTQ+, low-income, or otherwise marginalized. Applications are juried by the Parse Seco Curatorial Board with an online interview. Work sample requirements: 3-5 images, 0-3 audio files, 0-3 video files (3-10 total samples). This call is funded through a 2020 Paseo Community Arts Grant and is managed through a collaboration with the Paseo Project and Parse Seco.
