About This Call
For 53 years the Park Point Community Club has hosted The Park Point Art Fair at the Park Point Recreation Area on the last full weekend in June. Park Point is a premiere and unique setting, the largest freshwater baymouth bar in the world. The Art Fair includes 110 artists from across the region and nation who exhibit their award-winning work in a festive setting. The community hosts a free appreciation dinner for the artists and volunteers, and volunteers provide booth sitting services and set-up assistance to artists. Artists are awarded for excellence based on a review on site by art professionals, with the Club awarding a total of $1,300 to artists in seven categories as well as a Best of Show.
The fair showcases fine art and craft in ceramics, 2-D painting and printmaking, fiber, glass, photography, jewelry, wood, mixed media, and sculpture. All work must be original design and execution by the applying exhibitor, with no commercial molds, kits, imports or country crafts. Five images are viewed simultaneously and judged on the basis of originality, craftsmanship, design and continuity. 105 artists are selected, with ten people from a mix of categories put on a waitlist. Artists must be present at the art fair both days, Saturday and Sunday 10am-5pm.
Application fee is $35 and booth fee is $300 for a single booth. Artists can drive up to their booth for unloading and in most cases parking, with set-up along a paved path on the grass. Each artist receives an exhibition space of approximately 10'x10'. Exhibitors are responsible for collecting MN State sales tax plus city and county sales tax totaling 8.875%. Booth fees are refunded less $50 until May 7, after which exhibitor fees will not be refunded.
