Park Lane Outdoor Sculpture Gallery

The Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission (KCAC) seeks submissions of completed outdoor sculpture work for a two-year exhibition from September 2023 to September 2025. The outdoor gallery will feature six completed artworks from between one and six artists. Works must be of durable materials that can withstand Pacific Northwest weather conditions over the two-year period, with no weather protection provided.

Artists will be paid $2,000 per selected sculpture, distributed in two installments over the two-year exhibition. Works selected will be on loan to the City for 24 months and may be available for sale during that time, with artists receiving all proceeds. Artwork must weigh no more than 1,000 lbs and be compatible with plinths having a mounting surface area of 18 inches x 20 inches. Accepted mediums should be weatherproof, appropriate for outdoor display, and pose no hazard to the public.

Application materials required: a statement of interest (no longer than one page), two to five digital images of work samples, and a brief artist biography, resume, or CV. Selected artists must provide an IRS Form W-9, Certificate of Insurance showing $1,000,000 Commercial General Liability coverage with the City named as additional insured, and a State of Washington Business License with City of Kirkland endorsement. Artists are responsible for coordinating installation and de-installation of their work with City staff. The KCAC selection process runs from June 22-29, 2023, with finalist notification on August 4, 2023, and works installed on a rolling basis from September 15 to October 15, 2023.
