Paradox

Spark Gallery Denver presents "Paradox," a juried and curated exhibition by renowned international public sculptor Lawrence Argent. The show is open to all artists working in the US, with all 2D and 3D media eligible.

For this exhibition, Lawrence Argent asks: What is a paradox to you? Submissions may explore how artists utilize or manipulate materials by mixing various media in paradoxical ways, statements or propositions that seem self-contradictory but express possible truths, paradoxes that have arisen with the new political platform, or opinions contrary to commonly accepted views.

Entry fee is $35.00, and artists may submit up to 3 images. Art will be juried by images only; only works juried into the show will be accepted. 2D work must not exceed 36" in width. 3D works must not exceed 6'(H) x 3'(W) x 3'(D) and cannot exceed 75 lbs. Pedestal sculpture and mixed media are accepted. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs. Prepaid return packaging must be included with accepted work. Spark Gallery will not be responsible for return shipping costs. Commission will not be taken for sold works; Spark Gallery will charge a 5% credit card fee on credit card sales.

Accepted work must be shipped to or hand delivered to Spark Gallery by August 3-6 or August 10-13, 2017. The show runs August 17 – September 10, 2017, with an opening reception on Friday, August 18 from 6-9pm. Juror notification of accepted works is July 31, 2017. Artists can pick up work on September 10 from 1-4pm or September 11 from 12-5pm. Unsold work with prepaid postage will be returned the following week.
