About This Call
PARA: Beyond Normal is an exhibition exploring the concept of "normal" in art and life. The show runs October 31st - December 1st. Specto Art Space handles all printing, framing, and hanging of accepted works at no cost to artists.
Accepted media includes photography, digital art/graphic design, painting, drawing/illustration, watercolor, collage/mixed media, sculpture, and video art. The exhibition seeks work that pushes boundaries and associations with the norm, including documentation of subcultures, exploration of unconventional topics (paranormal, spirituality, fears, dreams, visions, nightmares), challenges to how we consume or think about art, and exploration of art techniques outside the norm.
Entry fee is $12 for 3 works, with an additional $6 per work up to a maximum of 10 works per applicant. Applicants must submit 3-10 images. Awards include Best in Show ($150 award plus inclusion in Superfine! DC 2019, October 30th - November 3rd at Union Market in Washington DC) and 2 Honorable Mention awards ($50 each). The exhibition is international and open to all artists. Curator: Jeremiah Morris, founder and director of Specto Art Space.
