About This Call
PAPERWORKS 2024 is an international juried competition for artists creating work on, with, or about paper. The competition accepts works made on paper, of paper, or about paper, including cut paper, folded paper, woven paper, glued paper, drawings, paintings, pastels, printmaking, photographs, paper sculpture, 3D works, bound books, collage, mixed media, video, and installation.
Artists may submit up to 6 images and/or 2 videos for a $35 entry fee. All entries must be original work by the artist. The juror is Julián Sánchez González, an art historian specializing in the intersection of artistic and spiritual practices in the Americas and the Caribbean, currently a PhD Candidate in Art History at Columbia University and Research Fellow at MoMA's Cisneros Institute.
Finalists will be notified by June 19, 2024. The virtual exhibition runs July 1 through August 31, 2024, with finalists' work displayed on the gallery website and social media. A Zoom Reception and Awards Presentation will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 7pm EST. Cash prizes are $300 for First Place, $200 for Second Place, and $100 for Third Place. If selected as a finalist, images of artwork, artist name, voice, video, artist's statement, and/or bio may be used on the gallery website, social media, print, and other promotional materials.
