Paperworks 2021

Paperworks 2021 is an international, juried competition for artists creating work on, with, or about paper. The competition is open to artists who use paper as their primary medium, as a substrate, or as the subject of a video. All entries must be original work by the artist.

Accepted media includes works made on paper, of paper, or about paper: cut paper, folded paper, woven paper, glued paper, drawings, paintings, pastels, printmaking, photographs, paper sculpture, 3D, bound books, collage, mixed media, video, and installation. Submissions may include up to 6 images and/or 2 videos (8 total samples maximum, with a minimum of 1 sample). The entry fee is $35.00. Artists may submit up to 2 applications.

Selected artists will have up to six pieces included in a one-month online exhibition on bjspokegallery.org in August 2021. Work will also be promoted on the gallery's social media accounts. Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place artists. An opening reception will be held on August 7th at 7:00pm online via Zoom. The juror is Sewon Kang, Archivist at The Easton Foundation. Artists will be notified on or about June 7, 2021. If selected, images of artwork, artist name, voice, video, artist's statement and/or bio will be used on bjspokegallery.org, social media, print and other publicity to promote Paperworks 2021.
