Paperworks 2019

Paperworks 2019 is a national juried competition for artists living in the United States who use paper as their primary medium, as a substrate, or as the subject of a video. The juror is Hillary Reder, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Drawings & Prints, Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Accepted media includes works made of, on or about paper: cut paper, folded paper, woven paper, glued paper, drawings, paintings, pastels, prints, photographs, paper sculpture, 3D, bound books, collage, mixed media, video, and installation. You will be juried on the body of work you submit. Submissions may include up to 6 images and/or 2 videos, with a minimum of 1 total sample and maximum of 8 total samples. Entry fee is $35.00 for up to 6 images.

Selected works will be exhibited at b.j. spoke gallery in Huntington, NY from August 1-28, 2019. The opening reception is Saturday, August 3rd from 6:00-9:00pm. Awards include exhibition of up to 6 selected works, promotion of winners and their work on the b.j. spoke website, social media, and press release, and an opening reception for winners and their guests. Artists will be notified on or about May 31, 2019. Winners must submit confirmation of participation by June 5, 2019. Installation pieces must be installed and removed by the artist. All work must be framed and wired and/or display-ready. Use plexiglass only – no glass for any shipped work. Artists are responsible for shipping their own work to and from the exhibit. If selected, images of your art and your name will be used on the b.j. spoke gallery website, social media, and for any other publicity used to promote Paperworks 2019.
