PAPERWORKS 2017

b.j. spoke gallery presents PAPERWORKS 2017, a national competition for artists working with paper. The exhibition will be held August 2-27, 2017, with a reception on Saturday, August 5th from 6:00-9:00pm at the gallery located at 299 Main Street, Huntington, NY 11743.

Eligibility is open to artists living in the United States who use paper as their primary medium, as a substrate, or as the subject of a video. Accepted media includes cut paper, folded paper, woven paper, glued paper, drawings, paintings, pastels, prints, photographs, paper sculpture, 3D work, bound books, collage, mixed media, video, and installation. The entry fee is $35.00, and artists may submit up to 2 applications with a maximum of 8 total work samples (up to 6 images and up to 2 videos).

The competition is juried by Akili Tommasino, a curatorial assistant at The Museum of Modern Art, New York and doctoral candidate in History of Art and Architecture at Harvard University. Selected works will be exhibited at b.j. spoke gallery. Jurors' results will be emailed by May 30, 2017, and a return confirmation of participation is required by Monday, June 5th. All work must be framed and wired and/or display-ready. Installation pieces must be installed and removed by the artist. Use plexiglass only—no glass for any shipped work. Artists are responsible for shipping their own work to and from the exhibit.
