Paper as Voice at Art Works Downtown

Art Works Downtown seeks to showcase artwork with innovative techniques, concepts, and compositions primarily dependent on paper. The juror is Judy O'Shea, an internationally exhibiting artist who focuses on large-scale paper installations in challenging locations.

Eligibility is limited to San Francisco Bay Area artists only (within 100 miles from San Rafael, California). Artworks must be predominantly made of paper, original artwork only (no giclees or reproductions), and must not have previously exhibited in the 1337 Gallery. Size restriction: no larger than 6' in any dimension. Submit via CaFE.org only; hardcopy, email, or disk submissions will not be accepted. Entry fee is $40 for up to 3 entries, with a discount provided for AWD Artist Members. Submit 1-3 images (minimum 1, maximum 3).

Delivery of accepted work is scheduled for Saturday, April 15, 11am-4pm at Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth St., San Rafael. Work must be hand delivered and ready for installation; wall-hung work must be securely wired. The reception is Friday, May 12, 5-8pm. Unsold artwork may be picked up Saturday, June 3, 10am-4pm. Art Works Downtown accepts a 40% donation upon sale. Artists who do not retrieve their work will be charged a storage fee of $1.00 per day; works remaining after 30 days will become property of Art Works Downtown. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on Friday, March 24 or Saturday, March 25.
