Painting to Music

Painting to Music is an online juried exhibition open to all 2D media (excluding photography and digital art). The theme encourages artists to submit work associated with music in some way, whether based on a song, musical artist, genre, lyrics, or performance/concert experience, or created while listening to music. The influence does not need to be literal or obvious.

Entry fee is $15 per image for non-members and $10 per image for members. Submit 1-3 images of work completed within the last 10 years. Acceptable mediums include watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oils, ink, casein, egg tempera, and other 2D media on any 2D surface. Work must not have been previously exhibited in a Rhode Island Watercolor Society juried show, copied from copyrighted material, partially or wholly painted by another, created under direct guidance of another, or created by following a tutorial. Work may have been done in a class or workshop using only the artist's own reference material. Submitted digital images must accurately represent the actual work with no alterations. There is no size limit.

The exhibition runs July 20 - August 16, with an online opening reception on Thursday, July 25 at 6pm via Zoom. Notification of acceptance is July 19. Over $300 in cash prizes will be awarded. Juror: Karen Rand Anderson. If work is sold through the online gallery, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society receives 35% of the sale.
