Painting in the 21st Century

Painting in the 21st Century is an international juried art exhibition at Site:Brooklyn, a gallery dedicated to exhibiting the current practice of contemporary artists. The exhibition will reflect the ambitious, innovative and contemporary in painting today. The exhibition runs September 21 – October 21, 2018, with an opening reception on Friday September 21, 2018 from 6-9PM.

This open call is for artists 18 years of age or older working in painting. The entry fee is $35 for up to three images, plus $10 for each additional image (minimum 3, maximum 12 images). All entries must be received by midnight July 30, 2018 MST. Notification of acceptance will be made via email by August 6, 2018, with a required confirmation of participation by August 12, 2018. The juror is Steven Henry Madoff, an art critic, curator, educator, and poet who served as executive editor of ARTnews magazine and is currently chair of the MA Curatorial Practice at the School of Visual Arts, New York.

Accepted work must be original paintings with a maximum size of 60" X 60" X 4" D, professionally framed (no clip frames, saw-tooth hangers, or taped edges), wired or with cleat attachment, and ready for hanging. All artwork must be priced for sale. Site:Brooklyn will retain a 50% commission on all exhibition sales. Shipped artwork must arrive between September 1 and September 13, 2018. Hand delivery is available Wednesday September 12 & Thursday September 13, 12:00-5:00 P.M. Hand-delivered works must be picked up Monday October 22nd and Tuesday October 23rd, 12:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. The artist assumes all responsibility for insuring artwork against shipping damage or loss. Entries that differ significantly from their digital images may be rejected.
