About This Call
Painting and Seeing is an international exhibition juried by John Beerman and sponsored by the University of North Carolina Wilmington Department of Art & Art History. The exhibition will feature paintings based on observation of the world around us.
Eligibility: Paintings based on observation of the world around us. All submissions must be original and unique works of art. Works cannot exceed UPS or FedEx weight or size limits. International artists are eligible. Each artist may submit digital images of up to three entries. Entry fee is $30 for up to 3 works. Artwork will be selected by the juror on the basis of digital images and judged for quality and concept in relation to the theme of the exhibition. The juror may withhold works that are misrepresented by digital submissions.
Awards: First Place $500, Second Place $300, Third Place $200. Accepted artists will be notified via email by December 15, 2015. The exhibition will be on view February 25 – April 7, 2016 in the Art Gallery at the Cultural Arts Building on the UNCW campus. A reception will be held on Thursday, February 25 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. with a juror lecture by John Beerman at 6:00 p.m. All exhibitions are free and open to the public. A commission of 30 percent will be retained by UNCW on all sales.
