Paint the Peninsula: 6th Annual Juried Plein Air Painting Competition

Paint the Peninsula is a juried plein air competition held in Port Angeles, Washington, August 18–26, 2018. The event is hosted by and for the benefit of the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center (PAFAC), a non-profit organization supporting the arts through gallery shows and community events. Port Angeles and its surrounding areas, including Olympic National Park, offer diverse painting subjects from sweeping vistas and mountains to farms, woods, and ocean views.

Registration opens January 1, 2018 and closes March 31, 2018. Artists submit 3 plein air images completed within the last two years for jury evaluation. The entry fee is $40. Up to 24 artists will be selected through jury review by a panel of 3 arts professionals. Finalists will be notified by May 15, 2018. Cash prizes totaling $12,000 will be awarded in various categories. Last year's winners may return as guest artists.

Selected artists must attend mandatory orientation and substrate stamping. All work must be framed, wire-strung, and no larger than 18 inches unframed on its longest side. A minimum price of $300 applies to all work except during the Paint Out and Petite Painting show on the final day. PAFAC retains a 40% commission on all work sold during the event and 25% on work painted or commissioned during the two months following. Attendance at the awards reception on August 25 and participation in the Paint Out on August 24 are mandatory. Host housing is available in exchange for a small painting.
