Paint: Medium as Power in a Time of Crisis International Juried Exhibition

Barrett Art Center in Poughkeepsie, New York seeks artwork that engages with the materiality of paint as a vehicle for producing meaning, particularly in the midst of pandemic and stay-at-home orders. The call is open to artwork in any media, with the proviso that some manner of "paint" should play an important role in the artwork as subject or media. This may include, but is not limited to, painting, pastel, printmaking, photography, collage, sculpture, fiber, mixed-media, new media, and installation.

Entry deadline is May 23, 2020. Entry fees are $20 for the first three images plus $5 for each additional image up to ten for non-members; members pay $18 for the first three images plus $5 for each additional image up to ten. Submissions may include 3-12 images and up to 3 videos. The exhibition is juried by Juana Williams, Curator at the Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Awards include $500 Juror's Prize, $200 Second Prize, and $125 Honorable Mention.

The exhibition runs Saturday, July 11 through August 15, 2020, with an opening reception on Saturday, July 11 from 3-6pm and artist talks on July 25 and August 15 from 3-4pm.
