About This Call
The Overton County Arts Council (OCAC) invites plein air painters to Paint Livingston 2026, a five-day plein air event taking place September 29 through October 3, 2026, in Overton County, Tennessee. The event is set in the rolling hills of the region and along the shores of Dale Hollow Lake. Twenty-five featured plein air painters will be selected through a juried competition. At the 2025 event, twenty-eight featured painters sold upwards of 90% of their work with a 70% artist commission.
Awards include a minimum of $10,000 total, with $2,000 for Best of Show and $2,000 for Artists' Choice Award. A new Open Division for Quick Paint competition will be held, with the First Place winner automatically invited to participate as a featured artist in the following year's main competition. The 2026 judge is nationally acclaimed painter Shelby Keefe, known for her expressive realism work and signature status in Oil Painters of America and American Impressionist Society.
Eligibility is open to all plein air artists 18 and over, including both experienced and amateur artists. Paintings in acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, and gouache are accepted. The entry fee is $30 (non-refundable), and artists must submit three plein air paintings for jury evaluation. Applications are submitted online through CallforEntry.org. Digital images must be at least 1200 pixels on the longest side, under 5MB, and in JPG or JPEG format. Host housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Complimentary receptions, dinners, and lunch are provided for participating artists. For more information, visit PaintLivingston.com or contact [email protected].
