Paint Grand Traverse Plein Air 2022

Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City, Michigan seeks artists for Paint Grand Traverse, a national plein air painting festival and competition now in its fifth year. The festival features 30-40 artists from across the country and is open to all U.S. residents, 18 years and older. All painting media are eligible.

Prizes and awards total $15,000 in cash and prizes across a variety of categories, with a Best of Show award of $2,500. The event takes place August 14-20, 2022, with an exhibition running August 23 - September 17, 2022. Housing is available for artists who live more than an hour away in local host homes.

Submit 5-7 images of recent plein air artwork online by February 25, 2022. Entry fee is $40.00 per artist ($25.00 for CTAC members; free for CTAC Artist Guild members). Submissions must include artwork title, dimensions, medium, date, artist bio, CV, and artist statement. A panel of five jurors will review submissions March 1-7, with acceptance notifications sent March 10. Accepted artists must submit a signed letter of agreement by March 31. Works created during the festival must be for sale, with Crooked Tree Arts Center retaining a 40% commission on all sales. Contact [email protected] for questions.
