Paint Grand Traverse 2023

Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City, Michigan seeks artists for Paint Grand Traverse, a national plein air painting festival and competition now in its sixth year. The festival features 32 artists from across the country and is open to all U.S. residents, 18 years and older. All painting media are eligible.

Artists must submit 5-7 images of recent plein air artwork online between November 14 and January 7, 2023. The entry fee is $40.00 ($30.00 for CTAC members; free for CTAC Artist Guild members). Submissions will be scored by a panel of five jurors comprised of practicing artists, teachers, collectors, and curators. Notification of acceptance will be sent on January 20, 2023. Accepted artists must submit a signed letter of agreement, bio, and promotional images by February 15. The event takes place June 18-24, 2023, with exhibition dates June 24-September 2, 2023.

Prizes include a Best of Show award of $2,500 cash, with a total of $15,000 in cash and prizes awarded in various categories. Works created during the festival must be for sale, with prices set by the artist. Crooked Tree Arts Center retains a 40% commission on all sales. Housing is available for artists who live more than an hour away in local host homes.
