Paint Grand Traverse 2020

Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City, Michigan seeks artists for Paint Grand Traverse, a national plein air painting festival now in its third year. The week-long festival and competition will take place August 8-15, 2020, featuring 36 artists from across the country. The Grand Traverse region is located in northwest lower Michigan and is known for its scenery, hundreds of miles of Lake Michigan coast, and historic small towns and villages.

This opportunity is open to all U.S. residents, 18 years and older. All painting media are eligible. Applicants must submit 5-10 images of recent plein air artwork (including title, dimensions, medium, and date), along with an artist bio and CV, artist statement, and optional link to online portfolio. A team of five jurors comprised of practicing artists, collectors, and curators will review submissions. Entry fee is $35.00 per artist ($20.00 for CTAC members; free for CTAC Artist Guild members). Notification of acceptance will be sent by December 13, 2019. Accepted artists must submit a signed letter of agreement by January 9, 2020.

Over $15,000 in cash and in-kind prizes will be awarded, including a $2,500 cash prize for Best in Show. Works created during the festival must be for sale, with prices set by the artist. Crooked Tree Arts Center will retain a 40% commission on all sales.
