About This Call
The Pacific Tower North Entry Art Project seeks to establish permanent art at the north entrance of Pacific Tower, a historic Art Moderne building in the Seattle area. The beautifully restored south entrance currently houses work by master Seattle artist Kenneth Callahan.
A visioning team led by local arts leader Vivian Phillips and visiting artist Tariqa Waters has established core values for the project: COMMUNITY, INCLUSIVITY, HISTORY, DISCOVERY, and IDENTITY. The selected art should reflect both the community within Pacific Tower and the surrounding Seattle neighborhood.
Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be residents of Seattle/King County with a current business license from the State of Washington and City of Seattle. Applicants must demonstrate verified experience in prior public art projects, a body of work exemplifying the highest quality, and proven ability to work with committees and within a defined budget. Selected artists must provide general commercial liability insurance.
Work Sample Requirements: Submit 2-10 images, 0-3 audio files, and 0-3 video files (2-10 total samples minimum).
Timeline: Artist applications due September 30, 2016. Jury selection concludes by October 31, 2016, with selected finalists receiving a stipend to prepare proposals. Completed artwork must be delivered by March 31, 2017 (pending any Landmarks Preservation Board approvals).
Budget: Maximum $35,000, including all materials, equipment, taxes, insurance, shipping, installation, and artist fee. No entry fee required.
