Pacific Northwest Plein Air Event 2015

Pacific Northwest Plein Air Event 2015 is a juried competition hosted by Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River, Oregon. The exhibition runs August 7-31, 2015, with a paint-out event August 3-5.

Artists must submit 5 digital images of plein air artwork and an artist statement through CaFÉ by March 31, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee is $40. Eligible applicants are residents of the United States and Canada; accepted artwork must have been painted in the Pacific Northwest during 2015. For this exhibition, at least 90% of the painting must be completed onsite and outdoors. A screening committee will select 35 artists to be invited to participate. Notification will be sent by April 15, 2015.

Accepted artists are expected to participate in the paint-out event during August 3-5. Artwork must be original, professionally framed, wired and ready for hanging, and not exceed 30 inches in any dimension before framing. Artists may submit up to 4 pieces (5 if participating in the Quick Draw). Fine art media accepted: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Pastel. All work must be for sale and priced with intent to sell. Columbia Center for the Arts retains a 40% commission on all sales; artists receive 60%.

Artwork must be delivered by 3 p.m. on August 5, 2015. The juror is Bryan Mark Taylor. Awards include: 1st Place ($1000), 2nd Place ($750 Gamblin merchandise), 3rd Place ($300 Strada award), 4 Honorable Mentions, Best Sky, Best Mountain, Best Water, and Quick Draw Prize ($500).
