About This Call
The Oxbelly Retreat has opened an open call for its 2026 Oxbelly Screenwriters Programme, from 1 to 9 July 2026 in Costa Navarino in Messinia, Greece. This call is aimed at writer-directors working on their second fiction feature film. It seeks to support those looking to strengthen their craft and push the boundaries of their unique cinematic voice. Selected fellows will workshop their scripts through individual meetings with experienced writer-director advisors and participate in sessions focusing on aspects of the creative process. The programme also promotes a multidisciplinary approach: participants join sessions with creatives from other fields (theatre, visual arts, literature) to broaden their narrative perspective and explore storytelling across forms.
