Own an Original 2020 - Liberating Humor

The City of Littleton Fine Arts Board presents the 55th Annual Own an Original Arts Exhibition, a juried competition open to Colorado residents. This year's theme is "Liberating Humor." The competition seeks artwork that explores the human condition with a lighthearted mood, interpreting how humor can provide freedom from limitations of thought or behavior. Artwork in any medium is accepted except photography, video, and audio. Entrants must submit up to three original works produced in the last three years that have not been shown in a Denver area juried show in the last two years. Each submission requires one image and a short statement describing how the work relates to the theme of "Liberating Humor."

Entry fee is $30 (non-refundable). Submissions open Monday, August 31, 2020 and close Thursday, October 15, 2020 at midnight MDT through CallForEntry.org. Accepted artwork must be hand-delivered to Littleton Museum (6028 S. Gallup Street, Littleton, Colorado 80120) on Monday, November 9, 2020 between 3pm and 7pm. Artwork will be displayed November 20, 2020 – January 2, 2021. Artwork must not exceed 60 inches on any measurement and must be ready to display. Acceptance and rejection notifications will be sent by mail on or around Friday, October 23, 2020.

Awards total over $1,800: Best of Show receives $1,000 and a joint exhibition in 2021; First Place $500; Second Place $250; Third Place $100. Award winners will be notified by phone or email on or around November 19, 2020. Unsold artwork must be picked up on Monday, January 4, 2021 between 9am and 3pm. This year's juror is Sarah Magnatta, Ph.D.
