Outside the Box (surrealism)

This juried exhibition invites artists to explore surrealism and unleash their unconscious mind through dreamlike, illogical, and fantastical imaginings. Surrealism emerged in the aftermath of WWI when Freud revolutionized our concept of the mind, providing new areas of expression through dreams, imagination, and the unconscious. Artists are encouraged to transgress boundaries, warp realities, and question our ways of perceiving the world.

2D and 3D art including painting, photography, digital, sculpture, and installations are accepted. The exhibition runs August 2–30, 2024, and is open to all artists regardless of gender orientation. Artists may submit up to two works. An artist statement of 200 words or less describing each submitted work is required and will be displayed with the work during the exhibit. Works will also be featured on the gallery's Facebook page. Artists are encouraged to submit items for sale, but "Not for Sale" works are also accepted.

Entry fee is $30.00 and allows submission of up to 2 works in any 2D or 3D medium. The fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee acceptance. Submission deadline is July 7, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Jury dates are July 8–10, 2024. Items must be shipped to and from the gallery in Ludington, MI. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. No reproductions or derivatives of original art are accepted.
