About This Call
"Outside In, Upside Down" is a summer exhibition celebrating the season with a unique presentation format. The entire exhibition will hang from the ceiling of the Great Hall gallery, allowing visitors to enjoy artwork while walking through an inside lawn, relaxing on painted Adirondack chairs, or laying on a giant beach towel. The theme is open and should be family-friendly, emphasizing positive, optimistic, and bright work that makes viewers feel good and uplifted.
Submissions must be lightweight and suitable for ceiling installation: canvases, paper, sculptures, paper art, and photography are welcome. No frames, glass, or heavy works are permitted. The exhibition runs from July 22 to September 16, 2022. Artists worldwide, both amateur and professional, are eligible. Work must have been produced within the last five years, and all styles and aesthetics are considered. Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible.
Entry fees are $20 for Cultural Center members or $30 for non-members for the first entry, with $5 for each additional entry (up to 20 total). Submissions must include 1-20 JPEG images at 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, with a maximum file size of 5 MB. Notification of acceptance will be sent by July 12, 2022. Local drop-off is July 18 between 8am-noon; shipped work must arrive by July 16. The opening event is July 22 from 5-8pm. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels. The Cultural Center charges a 30% commission on sales for members and 40% for non-members. The Center's insurance does not cover damage during shipping; artists should insure their own work.
