Outliers

Art Saint Louis presents "Outliers," an all-media juried visual art exhibition featuring artworks that depict, address, celebrate or are otherwise influenced by that which lies outside of the norm. The exhibition invites all explorations and interpretations of this theme and encourages all media, styles and techniques. Open to artists 21 years of age and older living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius.

Eligibility is limited to artists residing in the St. Louis region/200-mile radius at the time the show begins (April 13, 2019). Artists must submit a maximum of 3 original artworks completed between 2016-2019 that respond to the exhibition theme. Works must not have been exhibited in any juried exhibit in the St. Louis region during the 6 months prior to the exhibit dates, nor previously exhibited at Art Saint Louis Gallery. Specifications include: 2-D works must be framed or pre-approved presentation; works on canvas may be gallery-wrapped, strip-framed or framed; final installation size not to exceed 6 feet wide or 7 feet high (including frame); 2-D wall-installed works may not exceed 30 lbs; no ceiling-installed or floor-sitting work; all wall-installed works must hang from standard picture hanging hardware. 3-D work must be pedestal-displayed or wall-hung and must sit flat and level on a pedestal.

Jurors are Khara Koffel (Professor of Art and Gallery Director at MacMurray College) and Brett Williams (adjunct Professor of Art at St. Louis Community College Forest Park). Awards include one $250 Best of Show Award of Excellence and four non-cash Awards of Excellence. All five award recipients are eligible for the "Honor Awards 2020" ten-artist curated exhibit presented at Art Saint Louis, June 13-July 16, 2020. The exhibition runs April 13-May 30, 2019 at Art Saint Louis Gallery, 1223 Pine Street in downtown St. Louis. A free reception is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2019, 5-7 p.m. Entry fees are $20 for ASL members and $35 for non-members. All artist-entrants will be notified of acceptance status by email by Friday, February 24, 2019.
