About This Call

The City of Redmond Oregon's Commission for Art in Public Places (RCAPP) invites artists to submit existing large sculptures able to withstand winter weather conditions for a 2-year loan in the City of Redmond's outdoor public sculpture gallery known as "Art Around the Clock". Selected sculptures will be paid an honorarium of $1,000 for each exterior sculpture accepted and placed. Three awards will be presented: 1st place $1,500, 2nd place $1,000, 3rd place $500.

The program seeks up to 18 exterior sculptures, with larger sculptures above 3 feet in height encouraged. Smaller pedestal bases are 24 inches square and stand between 18-36 inches off the ground with an approximately 18-inch square metal plate for welding. Larger bases are available for bigger sculptures approximately 3 feet by 4 feet. Sculptures must have a metal plate on the existing piece to facilitate welding to the pedestal base. The City of Redmond will provide installation labor, welding, and placement at no charge to the artist, with a crane available if needed. The artist or representative must be available on site to oversee and assist with the installation process.

Artists may submit up to three outdoor sculptures available for loan, with each sculpture accompanied by 2-3 photos from different angles. Applications are due by March 10, 2022. Selected artists will be notified by March 16, 2022. Installation deadline is late June 2022, with sculptures remaining in place until June 2024. Artists living in the USA are eligible. There is no application fee. If a piece is sold, RCAPP/City of Redmond takes a 30% commission fee and the artwork must remain in place for the remainder of the 2-year term unless a mutual agreement is made for replacement or other arrangement.
