Outdoor Mosaic Art at the Price Center in San Marcos, Texas

The City of San Marcos invites artists to apply for a public mosaic art project on the risers of the steps of the Price Center, located at 222 W. San Antonio Street in San Marcos. The mosaic should last at least 25 years in outdoor conditions with minimal maintenance. Artists are invited to create their designs according to their own selected theme. Successful proposals will foster community pride and convey the sense of the San Marcos Community.

The selected artist will submit a design for the project, which will be reviewed and approved by the San Marcos Arts Commission. The City will complete surface preparation before the artist begins installation. The selected artist will create the mosaic artwork according to the approved design and install it at the designated location. Budget: $15,000 inclusive of labor, travel and materials. Entry fee: $0.00.

Eligibility: Artists must reside within 100 miles of San Marcos, Texas. Submission deadline: May 12, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. Qualification reviews: May 13-28, 2025. Selection notification: May 30, 2025. Applicants must submit a current resume and examples of previous mosaic work (3-5 images) via CaFE.
