Out of Place, Out of Bounds: An International Exhibition of Fiber

Out of Place, Out of Bounds is an international exhibition for artists working with fiber or fiber techniques. The exhibition calls for artists to recall, contextualize, and give form to ideas about belonging or not belonging to a place. Places can embody time, thoughts, physical places, or metaphorical places. Artists are encouraged to explore conditions of location and journeys through space, considering what happens when we reach beyond the places we inhabit or cross geographical or mental boundaries.

Submissions must include 1-8 images and 0-3 videos (11 total samples maximum). Entry fee is $40. All works must be received by July 1, 2021, shipped prepaid via UPS, USPS, DHL, or FedEx with a prepaid return-shipping label. Each work must be accompanied with title, medium, size, and sales price. Artwork should be packed in reusable containers without Styrofoam peanuts. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the artist.

Exhibition dates are July 9 - August 28. Notification of acceptance is June 4. Jurors include Tom Lundberg, professor emeritus in fibers at Colorado State University, and Steven Frost, an interdisciplinary fiber artist and Faculty Director of the B2 Center for Media, Arts, and Performance at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Best in Show will receive a solo exhibition at Artworks Center for Contemporary Art in 2022.
