About This Call
Out of Isolation is a juried exhibition celebrating the creative spirit and how artists can adapt to turbulent circumstances. The Firefly Artists are seeking artwork created during quarantine, isolation, or while experiencing the Covid-19 pandemic. Artists are invited to share the story behind their work as the community comes together to celebrate resilience.
Entries must be original artworks (no reproductions except photography) created in 2020, and all works must be for sale. The gallery takes a 35% commission on sold pieces. Eligible media include 2D and 3D works: Printmaking, Painting, Drawing, Graphic Arts, Photography, Collage, Mixed Media, Sculpture, and Jewelry. Maximum piece size is 30" x 40" (including framing). The exhibition will run for 6 weeks in The Darcy Gallery (second floor of the historic Masonic building on Main Street in Northport, NY) from December 1, 2020 through February 14, 2021. Note: there is no handicap access to this venue.
Entry fee is $35 for up to two pieces; additional pieces may be submitted for $5 each. Up to two pieces per selected artist will be included in the exhibition. Awards will be given for First, Second, Third Place, and Honorable Mention, with Dan Welden (master printmaker, painter, author) serving as the awards juror. Accepted works must be framed, wired, and ready to hang or display. Framed pieces 16" x 20" and larger must have fiberglass instead of glass. Jewelry pieces must be framed. Each submitted work must include the name, date, medium/materials description, and a description or backstory of the artwork's meaning. Artists are responsible for insuring their accepted works and must pick up artwork between February 16-21, 2021. A storage fee of $5 per day will be charged for pieces not retrieved after February 22, 2021.
