About This Call
This 6-week virtual residency program invites artists to develop projects exploring the theme of "Our Land" and terrestrial ecosystems. Artists may approach this theme through caring for forests, combating desertification, restoring degraded land, or responding to the loss of biodiversity, from cultural, scientific, ancestral, or community-rooted perspectives.
The program includes five 2-hour virtual meetings held once weekly with mentors from MANGO and/or Moku Art Studio, focused on concrete project production. Participants will receive creative feedback, engage in collaborative exchange with other resident artists, and benefit from special guest speakers from the scientific and/or ancestral knowledge communities. The residency concludes with a virtual open studio and exhibition opening where residents present their finished work and creative process to a global audience.
Program components include mentoring sessions with experienced mentors, guidance on developing ideas and techniques, opportunities to share inspiration and creative processes with fellow artists, and access to perspectives from scientific and ancestral communities. Residents will exhibit their work in a virtual exhibition and open studio format.
