Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital Art Program

Ann Connelly Fine Art is seeking artwork for the Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital. The program aims to engage young patients, their families, facility staff and hospital visitors through art that inspires, promotes positivity and creates a healing environment focused on children.

Artists should submit original artwork appropriate for a public healthcare environment. Work can incorporate traditional mediums along with contemporary elements including collage, installation, sculpture and fiber arts. Submissions must be readily available or able to be commissioned within a reasonable timeframe and reproducible to high specifications. Submit 3-5 quality images of available or readily commissionable work, along with a current CV or artist resume. Conceptual sketches and renderings are not acceptable. For dimensional or mixed media work, multiple images from different angles are preferred. Previously sold or installed work is acceptable if it can be duplicated.

Artwork should reflect child-focused themes emphasizing discovery, joy, playfulness and wonderment. The conceptual story draws from natural world themes including tree canopies, budding flowers and Louisiana wildlife, with emphasis on growth, life, energy and light. Imagery and color selection should contribute to a healing environment and be appropriate for children ages 0-18. Artwork should not contain negative healthcare connotations (such as blood, chemicals or surgery) and must be suitable for a public space with no sharp edges, excessively fragile elements or removeable pieces. Selected artwork must be available or commissioned within 12-15 weeks. The call is open to all professional artists regardless of academic training. Artists with gallery representation must be able to work within Louisiana without exclusivity agreements with other galleries.
