About This Call
The Oregon Arts Commission's Individual Artist Fellowship Program honors Oregon's professional artists and their artistic achievements and supports their efforts to advance their careers. The program awards non-matching fellowships of $3,000 to artists demonstrating excellence in Visual Arts (including crafts, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media and new media) and Design Arts. There is no pre-determined number of fellowships to be awarded in each discipline. The Commission may determine that no fellowships be awarded. One fellow receives a special honorary Joan Shipley Award, recognizing the late Oregon arts leader and founding board member of PICA and the Bonnie Bronson Trust.
Eligible applicants must be current Oregon residents who have been Oregon residents for one full year prior to the application deadline and have not received an Oregon Arts Commission Fellowship in the five years prior to submission. Full-time students and non-professionals who produce art as a hobby are not eligible. Each fellowship is awarded to only one individual artist.
Applications are reviewed on aesthetic quality of submitted artwork, the artist's sustained professional achievement, and potential for future contribution to the field. Applicants must submit exactly 10 images of past work (up to 3 may be moving image files in formats: 3GP, WMV, AVI, MOV, ASF, MPG, MP4, M2T, MKV, M2TS), a résumé limited to 3 pages, and an artist statement of 2,000 characters or less. Still images must be no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, 72dpi and less than 5 MB. The deadline for submissions is 10:59 PM Pacific Standard Time (11:59 PM Mountain Standard Time) October 15, 2015. All materials must be submitted through CaFE. For assistance, contact the Oregon Arts Commission at (503) 986-0082 or [email protected].
