About This Call

National and international artists are invited to submit qualifications for the Oregon Art in Public Places Roster, managed by the Oregon Arts Commission and the Regional Arts & Culture Council. The Roster serves as a resource for public art selection panels to identify artists suitable for their community and specific project needs.

Applicants must have successfully completed at least two permanent or temporary site-specific commissions in which the content, materials, and/or placement of the artwork was informed by input from the commissioning body. Professional artists living and working in the United States are eligible to apply. Non-US residents must be able to show current ability to work in the United States. Inclusion in the roster does not guarantee a project.

Applications are reviewed by a panel of arts professionals who score submissions based on: artistic and technical quality of past work (50%), professional experience including commissions, awards, collections and exhibitions (30%), and value to the collections managed by OAC and RACC (20%). Applicants must submit an artist statement of interest (2500 characters or less), a two-page resume with three professional references, exactly 10 images of previous work (up to 3 moving image files may be included), and an image identification list. The roster is refreshed every three years; artists not selected may reapply one year from notification. Following the initial deadline of July 25, 2016, applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and reviewed at least once annually.
