About This Call

National and international artists are invited to submit qualifications for the Oregon Art in Public Places Roster. The Oregon Arts Commission manages the Percent for Art in Public Places Program for the State of Oregon. The roster serves as a resource for percent for art selection panels to identify artists most suitable for specific projects. Selection panels may use the roster in combination with an open call or invitational, or as the sole resource for identifying appropriate artists. The roster is completely refreshed every three years.

Eligibility: Applicants must have successfully completed at least two permanent or temporary site-specific commissions. Professional artists living and working in the United States are eligible to apply. Non-US residents must be able to show current ability to work in the United States prior to being contracted for a project in Oregon. If previously selected for an Oregon Art in Public Places Roster, you must reapply to be considered for the 2020-2022 roster.

Application deadline is September 10, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. After the initial deadline, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed periodically. All materials must be submitted through CaFE. Required materials include: a statement of interest (2000 characters or less) describing your public art practice; a two-page resume outlining professional accomplishments and including three professional references; ten images of previous work illustrating projects within specific sites (up to three moving image files, each 3 minutes or less, may be included as part of the 10-image limit); and an image identification list providing project title, location, date completed, media, dimensions, budget, commissioning agency, project partners, and brief project description. A panel of arts professionals will review applications and score based on: artistic and technical quality of submitted past work (50%), professional experience (30%), and value to Oregon's Percent for Art Collection (20%). All applicants will be notified of their status after the review process is completed. Artists not selected may reapply one year from being notified. For questions, contact Eleanor Sandys at [email protected] or 503-986-0091.
