About This Call
National and international artists are invited to submit qualifications for the Oregon Art in Public Places Roster. The Oregon Arts Commission manages the Art in Public Places Program for the State of Oregon. The roster serves as a resource for percent for art selection panels to identify artists most suitable for specific projects.
Selection panels may use the roster in combination with an open call or invitational, or as the sole resource for identifying appropriate artists for a project. The roster is completely refreshed every three years. If you were selected for a previous Oregon Art in Public Places Roster, you must reapply to be considered for the 2025-2027 Roster. The application deadline is March 14, 2025. No earlier than six months after the initial deadline, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed periodically. Artists not selected for the roster may reapply one year from being notified.
Applicants must have successfully completed at least two permanent or temporary site-specific commissions. Professional artists living and working in the United States are eligible to apply. Non-US residents must be able to show current ability to work in the United States prior to being contracted for a project in Oregon. A panel of arts professionals will review application materials based on: artistic and technical quality of submitted past work (50%), professional experience including commissions, awards, collections, and exhibitions (30%), and value to Oregon's Percent for Art Collection (20%). All applicants will be notified of their status after the review process is completed.
Application materials must be submitted through CaFE and include: a statement of interest describing your public art practice (2000 characters or less), a resume (PDF) with three professional references, ten images of previous work (JPEGs or JPGs) illustrating projects within specific sites, and an image identification list (PDF) providing project title, location, date completed, media, dimensions, budget, commissioning agency, project partners, and brief project description. Up to three moving image files, each 3 minutes duration or less, may be submitted as part of the 10-image limit. Applicants must also select a budget minimum category and indicate whether their application information may be shared with other commissioning bodies and selection committees.
