Orange is the New Black

Ashton Gallery @ Art on 30th, a contemporary art gallery in San Diego, CA, invites local and national artists to submit original works for the 2017 Orange is the New Black Show. Artists may submit pieces in any genre that feature prominent orange or black, or themed works dealing with confinement, restriction, or incarceration.

Accepted categories include painting, drawing, photography, assemblage, collage, encaustic, mixed media, fiber art, and 3D art that fits on an 18" x 18" pedestal. The gallery does not accept jewelry, video, film, performance art, or installations. Submissions must be original work with "D" ring hardware requested for hanging. All entries must be for sale, with Ashton Gallery retaining 50% commission. Artwork must remain in the show until closing.

Selected works will be published in the Ashton Gallery Full Color Exhibition Catalogue. Three awards will be given: Best in Show (cover of catalogue), First Place (double page spread), and Jurors Choice (double page spread), plus two honorable mentions (double page each). All selected artists will be represented in an online gallery at ashtonartgallery.com. The juror is Jenna S. Jacobs, Curatorial Manager at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. Entry fee is $35 for the first two entries, plus $5 for each additional image (maximum 6 images). Exhibition dates are October 21 - November 18, 2017. Opening reception is October 21, 2017, 6 pm - 8 pm. Notification of acceptance will be made by email by September 9, 2017. Submissions must be completed online through CaFÉ before 11:59 PM MST on August 19, 2017.
