Orange County Artist Guild New Membership 2024

The Orange County Artist Guild invites applications for new membership from individual artists who live or maintain a studio in Orange County, NC. The Guild hosts an annual Orange County Open Studio Tour (first two weekends in November), annual Winter and Spring shows, and provides members with a website gallery page, organizational social media presence, quarterly educational meetings, workshops, and opportunities to exhibit and sell work throughout the year.

Applicants must submit 7-8 digital images of their work (at least 3 from the previous 3 years), a resume (maximum 2 pages), and an artist statement (2000 character limit). All artistic media are accepted; artists must show and sell original work only. No kits, commercially manufactured items, or imports are permitted. Work will be judged on competence in the medium, originality and confidence in style and execution, and evidence of serious commitment to the artistic practice. The jury process is blind, with a minimum of 8 voting members plus co-chairs reviewing applications. The jury's decision is final and no individual critiques will be provided.

The $25 nonrefundable application fee must be paid by the entry deadline of January 31, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Annual membership dues are $100 per calendar year (January 1 - December 31), paid after acceptance. Studio Tour participation is $500 (reducible to $250 with 8+ hours of committee work). Young Adult Emerging Artists (ages 21-30) who are juried in will have their first-year membership dues and Studio Tour fees waived, though the $25 application fee still applies. Applicants for Emerging Artist positions should not be enrolled in a degree program (except BFA or MFA) during their membership year. Up to 2 applications are permitted if working in distinct media, with a separate $25 fee for each application.
