Open Studios San Diego

Open Studios San Diego is a regional exhibition of artist studios in October 2015. Artists will participate in a month-long group exhibition at The Studio Door (4434 30th Street, San Diego, CA 92116-4231) with a public reception on October 2nd. The following weekend of October 10th and 11th, artists will welcome visitors into their studios for a region-wide weekend art event. Visitors can map out their own route to see studios, where most artists demonstrate their techniques and all studios have art for sale.

Accepted categories include painting, drawing, photo, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art, artist book, ceramics, stained glass, and sculpture. The exhibition does not accept jewelry, video, film, performance art, installation, or works requiring an external electrical source. Work must be the artist's original work. Eligibility requires studio artists, art centers, and art galleries in San Diego County with sufficient body of work and studio space. Artists must have a website and email address, a resale license, and proof of insurance for liability. Artists must have worked in their medium for at least two years and be selling work to the public. All work must be original design by the artist, with any commercially produced parts playing a subordinate role.

Entry fees are $175 for individual artists, $250 for nonprofits/art centers, and $300 for art galleries. Submissions require 3-5 images uploaded through CaFÉ. Exhibition dates are October 2-24, 2015, with opening reception October 2, 6 PM-9 PM. Self-guided studio tours are October 10-11, 10 AM-5 PM. Artists will be notified by September 18. Artwork delivery is September 27 (Noon-4 PM) or September 29 (10 AM-6 PM). Pickup is October 25 or 27. For in-gallery sales, 60% goes to the artist and 40% to The Studio Door. Artists not selected for gallery space will be included in an online gallery.
