Open Spaces

Open Spaces is a juried exhibition open to all artists in the United States working in 2D media (excluding photography and digital art). The theme invites artists to portray open spaces that are serene, awe-inspiring, lonely, or meaningful in their own way, whether literal or abstract. Juror: Gina Croce (www.ginacroce.com).

Submission Requirements: Submit 1-3 digital images at $20 per entry for non-members or $15 per entry for members. Work must not have been exhibited in a previous Rhode Island Watercolor Society juried show, must have been completed within the last 10 years, and may not be copied from copyrighted material or created under the direct guidance of another or from tutorials. Acceptable media include watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oils, ink, casein, collage, mixed media, monotype, and egg tempera on any 2D surface. Work may not exceed 48 inches on the longest side (including frame). Framed work must be under glass/Plexiglas and wired securely. Paintings on canvas or wood do not need to be framed but should have clean, professionally presented sides.

Drop-off/Shipping Dates: September 20th - October 4th, Thursdays & Fridays 10am-4pm and Saturdays 10am-3pm. Ship to: Rhode Island Watercolor Society, Slater Memorial Park, 831 Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket, RI 02861. Include pre-paid return label and send tracking number to [email protected] with subject line "Open Spaces Tracking." Pieces received late will not be hung. Exhibition Dates: October 5th - November 1st. Show Opening Reception: October 5th, 1pm. FREE Watercolor Demo by juror Gina Croce, October 5th at 12pm. Notification of Acceptance: September 20th. Pick Up Date: November 1st. Return Shipping: November 1st - 23rd. The Rhode Island Watercolor Society receives 35% of sales.
