Open Orange 2015

Open Orange 2015 is a juried exhibition presented by ValleyArts, the art service and activist organization of the Valley Arts district of Orange and West Orange, NJ. The contemporary art exhibition will be held at the ValleyArts Firehouse Gallery, located at 580 Forest Street in Orange, NJ, and celebrates the growing artist community in the Valley Arts District.

Open to New Jersey and NYC metropolitan area artists working in two-dimensional media. Artists (18 years and over) may submit one, two, or three works maximum. All original artwork in 2D media will be considered—painting, photography, printmaking, mixed media, and works on paper. Maximum dimensions are 36 x 36 inches including frame. The entry fee is $35 (non-refundable) per application. Nationally prominent jurors are Tricia Laughlin Bloom, curator of American art at the Newark Museum and previously associate curator of exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum, and Victoria L. Valentine, founder and editor of Culture Type.

Application deadline: Friday, April 3, 2015 (midnight EST). Artist notification: Friday, April 17, 2015. Artwork drop-off: Friday, May 8, 3pm-7pm and Saturday, May 9, 12pm-4pm. Exhibition runs Thursday, May 14 – Sunday, June 14, 2015. Reception and Best in Show announcement: Thursday, May 14, 6pm-9pm. Artwork pick-up: Monday, June 15, 3pm-7pm and Tuesday, June 16, 3pm-7pm. Accepted works must be hand-delivered and unpacked at the gallery; mailing is not permitted. Framing must be professional standard and ready for hanging with attached wire. All accepted artwork must remain on display for the entire exhibition duration and be priced for sale. The gallery collects 40% commission on all sales, with proceeds disbursed to artists within 30 days of exhibition close. One artist will be awarded $500 for Best in Show.
