Open Doors

Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey, Michigan invites artists throughout the United States to submit original works for the exhibition Open Doors. This exhibition seeks artwork that reflects on ideas of openness, accessibility, and opportunity. Artists are encouraged to think broadly on the theme, with eligible works including representational imagery that responds to the prompt as well as conceptual connections to the idea of "open doors." The exhibition is open to artists working in all media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, fibers, metals, ceramics, sculpture, photography, audio, video, performance, installation, and more. US artists living and working in the USA are eligible to enter.

The exhibition will be on display in Petoskey's Gilbert Gallery from January 15 - March 5, 2022. Entries may be submitted online from October 13 - November 29, 2021, with notification sent by December 6, 2021. Artists are responsible for transporting work to and from Crooked Tree Arts Center through shipping or in-person drop-off and pick-up. Work must be delivered between January 3 - 8, 2022 during posted gallery hours. If shipping, artwork must arrive with a return shipping label. Unsold artwork must be picked up during gallery hours on March 8 - 14, or by appointment. Works delivered with return shipping arrangements will be sent by March 14, 2022.

The entry fee is $35.00 per artist (CTAC members $20.00, Guild Members free). Artists may submit up to five entries. $1000 in prizes will be awarded: First Place $500, Second Place $300, Third Place $200. Works must be original and not previously exhibited at Crooked Tree Arts Center. Accepted two-dimensional artwork must be framed and wired for hanging. Crooked Tree Arts Center galleries are sales galleries; works can be for sale with prices set by the artist, and CTAC retains a 40% commission on sales. Works do not have to be for sale. Accepted work may not be removed until after the close of the show. Work not picked up by specified dates becomes property of Crooked Tree Arts Center.
