About This Call
Spokane Arts Commission is accepting submissions for the Chase Gallery's 2017 exhibition season. The Chase Gallery is a community art exhibition space located at Spokane City Hall, 808 W Spokane Falls Blvd., Spokane, WA. Gallery hours are weekdays 8 am to 5 pm and throughout City Council Meetings on Monday evenings. Exhibitions are three months in duration.
Two exhibition tracks are available: Winter (January through March) seeks work from Artists of Color, with selection based on strong concept, originality, and craftsmanship. The reception will take place on the February Visual Arts Tour. Fall (October through December) seeks tactile and interactive work from artists who are vision impaired or create work that can be experienced through touch and other senses beyond the visual. Work will be selected by a diverse panel of jurors based on the ability to be experienced through touch, strong concept, originality, and craftsmanship.
Proposals are welcome from individual artists, groups of artists, art associations, or curators from the Inland Northwest region of Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. Work sample requirements: minimum 5 images, maximum 10 images; maximum 1 audio file; maximum 1 video file. Artists should provide a resume of art exhibits and related experience, a portfolio of images, and an artist statement. The gallery has limited equipment for digital media and limited sculpture display cases. Extremely small works and jewelry are not appropriate. All artworks are insured by the City of Spokane while on exhibit; artworks in transit must be insured by the owner or representative. Deadline: September 16, 2016 at 5 PM PST. Artists will be notified no later than November 1, 2016. Contact: [email protected]
