Open Call for fire-safe garden art: Zone 0: New Opportunities for Art in the Garden

Faced with the rising threat of wildfires, many California residents are clearing combustible materials from around their homes and reducing vegetation in other parts of their gardens. The City of Berkeley recently passed legislation promoting fire safety which requires 1,200 home owners to clear flammable materials within five-feet of their homes. While these changes are necessary for safety, they also expand opportunities for art in the landscape. The Zone 0 exhibition aims to unite artists and gardeners to bring creativity and imagination to home gardens — without compromising fire resilience.
