About This Call

In a public call for proposals, we invite international artists to submit contributions on the theme described below for a juried group exhibition in our exhibition spaces. The climate crisis is one of the greatest challenges of our time. At the same time, democracy is threatened by authoritarian tendencies. Authoritarian systems tend to prioritize short-term economic interests over ecological responsibility. A stable democracy, on the other hand, enables open discussions about sustainable solutions. Through engagement and participation, citizens can exert pressure for effective climate policies. In this way, a strong democracy protects not only freedom but also the future of our planet. The exhibition, aimed at adults, addresses this dangerous trend following an international call for submissions: the diminished awareness of the climate crisis, the lack of democratic accountability, and targeted disinformation. It explores how political and social decision-making processes can be based on facts rather than emotions – and what role art can play in communicating these complex issues. Through artistic means, the project informs and invites dialogue. The exhibition showcases works that critically examine the relationship between democracy, climate policy, and the public sphere. At the same time, it encourages reflection on one's own potential for action – as citizens, voters, and active participants. The exhibition and its artworks are planned and implemented with resource conservation in mind. The artists are asked to specify the percentage of reused material in their work. Sustainability is not just a concept for us, but also a practice. We accompany the exhibition with a dialogue-oriented program.
