About This Call

In a public call for submissions, we invite international artists to submit contributions on the theme described below for a juried group exhibition in our exhibition spaces. The climate crisis is one of the greatest challenges of our time. At the same time, democracy is threatened by authoritarian tendencies. Authoritarian systems tend to prioritize short-term economic interests over ecological responsibility. A stable democracy, on the other hand, enables open discussions about sustainable solutions. Through engagement and participation, citizens can exert pressure for effective climate policy. Thus, a strong democracy protects not only freedom but also the future of our planet. The exhibition, aimed at adults, is dedicated to this dangerous development following an international call for proposals: the reduced perception of the climate crisis, acting with democratic responsibility, and targeted disinformation. It raises the question of how political and social decision-making processes can be based on facts and not on sentiments – and what role art can play in communicating these complex relationships. The project uses artistic means to inform and invites dialogue. The exhibition shows works that critically examine the relationship between democracy, climate policy and the public. Simultaneously, it encourages reflection on one’s own potential for action – as citizens, voters, and shapers. The exhibition, with its works, is planned and implemented in a resource-saving manner. The artists are asked to specify the percentage of recycled material used in their work. Sustainability is not only our content, but also our practice. We are accompanying the exhibition with a dialogue-oriented program. For the first time, we are offering children the opportunity to create small works of art on the theme, with a subsequent exhibition in our rooms.
