About This Call
On the Surface is a national juried exhibition at the Attleboro Arts Museum open to all mediums, sizes, and interpretations of the theme. Artists are invited to explore outward appearance, chipping paint, highly polished keepsakes, curb appeal, tattoos, reactions to poison ivy, lunar landscapes, iPhone wallpaper, shadows, crashing waves, the perfect family, fine textiles, and other related subjects. Six prizes of $100 each will be awarded.
Each artist may submit up to two different entries. All mediums and interpretations from US artists will be juried. There is no size limit for 2D work, however all entries (both 2D and 3D) cannot weigh over 100 lbs each. Work must not have been previously exhibited at the Attleboro Arts Museum. Artists can submit 2D, 3D, installation, audio, or video work. Each file must be named with the title of the art and the artist's last name.
Entry fees are $18 for Attleboro Arts Museum members (covering up to two pieces) and $25 for non-members (covering up to two pieces). Membership can be purchased when paying for submissions. All fees are non-refundable. The entry deadline is Tuesday, April 14th at 11:59 PM, Mountain Time. All artists will receive notification of the juror's decision by Wednesday, May 13th at 7 PM, MT. Due to COVID-19 health concerns, the exhibition will be presented online from June 18th–July 16th, 2020. All accepted works will appear online, and the Museum will work with exhibiting artists to add video remarks to the online show. All art sales are subject to the Attleboro Arts Museum's commission of 30% for Museum members and 40% for non-members.
