About This Call
The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original artwork exploring streets and urban scenes. This national call seeks interpretations of city content including buildings, streets, signs, people, objects, machines, technology, space, light, and movement. Artists are encouraged to explore how they narrate their experiences of cities, towns, or suburbs—whether capturing decisive moments, asserting the significance of place, focusing on storytelling, examining oddities, reflecting social and economic issues, or revealing normality and joyful moments. The gallery supports all efforts and approaches to this subject matter with no restrictions on style and technique.
Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography. Photographers may submit black-and-white or color images in all photographic processes. Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to 9 maximum. All images must be submitted as JPEG files under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Artwork must include title, medium, size, price, and year of completion.
Artwork specifications require professional finishing and secure installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Maximum dimensions are 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and 45 lbs for paintings; 24 inches on any dimension for sculpture. Photographs should be framed with black or white frames preferred. The exhibition runs June 12–July 10, 2024, at the gallery in historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Notification of acceptance will be sent by May 5, 2024. Accepted artwork must arrive by June 8, 2024. Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs. An "Art of Distinction" Award will be granted, and one artist will be selected for an annual Grand Prize exhibition opportunity in New York City.
