ON THE ROCKS: An Exhibition of Vessels For & Related to Drinking

Detroit's Pewabic Pottery announces "ON THE ROCKS: An Exhibition of Vessels For & Related to Drinking," juried by Pete Pinnell. This international competition is open to artists 18 years of age and older. Artists may submit up to 5 original works made primarily of clay within the past three years. Works may include cups, mugs, tumblers, goblets, steins, bottles, flasks and jugs; all works must be functional and food safe. Works must not exceed 18" in any direction and must be exhibition-ready.

Submission deadline is November 12, 2017. Notifications will be sent by December 15, 2017. Works must be received January 3–10, 2018, with the exhibition running January 19–February 25, 2018. Entry fee is $40. Prizes include $500 First Prize, $250 Second Prize, $100 Third Prize, and Honorable Mentions may be awarded at the juror's discretion. All accepted works must be available for sale throughout the exhibition; artists receive 50% commission on sales. Artists are responsible for shipping work to and from Pewabic and insuring work in transit. Pewabic will insure works on site. Works not sold will be available for pick-up after March 10, 2018, with prepaid return shipping commencing by March 12, 2018.

Submit one image per work in JPG format only, labeled "LastName_FirstInitial_Entry#" (minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, maximum 5.0 MB). Include title, date, medium and dimensions. An artist's statement and/or resumé are optional but encouraged. Contact [email protected] with questions.
