About This Call
On Point! is an exhibition of contemporary embroidery artworks from across the country. The exhibition showcases how today's embroidery artists are pushing the boundaries of traditional needlework techniques by combining them with new and creative methods. Works may utilize other materials, but the embroidery component(s) should be the clear focal point of the work.
The exhibition will take place in The Vault, a historical bank vault within d'Art Center located in Norfolk's Arts District (The NEON District). This intimate space will accommodate approximately 25 works. Hang/display ready art cannot exceed 36 inches in its longest dimension, though these stipulations may be waived by contacting the Gallery Director. The exhibition runs from Saturday, April 25th through Saturday, May 30th, 2026, with a dual opening reception on Thursday, April 30th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The exhibition will also be featured digitally on d'Art Center's archive site.
Entry fee is $30 for 3 submissions (minimum 3 images required). Additional submissions beyond 3 are $5 each, with a maximum of 10 works that can be juried. Artists may submit detail images or the same image multiple times to meet the minimum requirement. Accepted works must arrive by 5pm Saturday, April 18th, 2026. The jury period is March 9-15, 2026, with notifications sent by email by 5pm Monday, March 16th, 2026. This is a juried exhibition curated by d'Art Center Gallery Director Amanda Bradley. Best in Show award is $300. Gallery commission on sales is 60/40 (60% artist, 40% d'Art Center). Works can also be marked NFS (not for sale). Artist statements of 555 characters or less are displayed with artwork.
